Capello to stay on till Euro 2012

So, the Italian coach has decided he will stay on the England job until his contract expires after the Euro 2012.

Fabio Capello must have something up his sleeve to want to perform magic on the under performing England squad.

But then, again, the mystery of how so many good quality players who do extremely well when they don the club jersey but fail miserably upon rolling up their white shirts is precisely why the Italian is staying.

Capello really wants to solve the mystery. And at time, he seems to have – most notably in the games against Croatia. But we have played against the likes of France and Brazil and lost – so perhaps he’s still far off the cure.

None the less, Capello remains keen as ever to take in the reigns of the Three Lions not only because he wants to play in the international arena but because our underperformance have always left him mystified.

Capellow was roped in to take over from the disaster that was McClaren in 2007 with his contart expiring in 2012 but with a clause to opt out after the World Cup. The job, all GBP6 Million per year of it, was considered by many but Capello was decided to be the best man for the job. And the Italian has made it clear that he doesn’t need his opt out clause, something the FA is only to happy to accommodate.

Capello is also positive the team will play a strong part in the SouthAfrica 2010.

“Managing a national team has been a new experience for me,” said Capello.

“I discovered new things about what I have to do and the relationship between the players and the manager.

“Now we are arriving at the most important moment. I understand the pressure, the confidence of the country in this team and it is really exciting.

“I am very focused.”

He proceeds to display confidence over the other teams in the World Cup.

“I am sure we are strong,” he said. “The only big team we haven’t played against is Argentina.

“We lost some of those games but I understood a lot.

“We did not play any of those matches at home either, which is important.

“I know the value of my team and know the value of other teams.”
